New member information

Every new swimmer starts with an evaluation so a coach can place them in the right group. Then registration, USA Swimming, gear and parking, in that order.

Step one

The evaluation

Evaluations are required so swimmers are placed in the correct group for their skill level. Email Coach Kevin with your child’s name, age, and current swim experience, new to swimming or currently a year-round swimmer.

Swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke, unassisted
Bring a cap and goggles
Arrive at least 10 minutes early to park and walk to the pool

If a swimmer is not quite ready for the competitive team, the Rise-Up Prep Team prepares them for it. The evaluation determines whether Prep Team is the right starting point.

Step two

Register

Once a coach has confirmed your group, register your swimmer.

Step three

USA Swimming registration & transfers

All families must register with USA Swimming for insurance during practice and to attend meets. Choose the premium membership, this is separate from team registration. Transferring from another team? Finalise the transfer by logging into your current USA Swimming account, or you stay attached to your old club. Athletes 16 and 17 may create their own account ahead of the APT requirement; all athletes 18 and over must have their own.

Masters only

US Masters Swimming

All Masters swimmers must register with US Masters Swimming for insurance purposes, whether or not you plan to compete in meets. You will not be able to practice with the Masters group until this registration is complete.

Step four

Parent Code of Conduct

Every family signs and returns the Parent Code of Conduct before the first practice. It sets what we expect of parents on deck, in the stands and at away meets, the other half of the trust pillar.

Questions families ask first

Does my swimmer need to know all four strokes?

No. Only Prep Team requires nothing at all, and the Age Group entry point asks for a legal 25 free and back. We will tell you honestly where they are.

Can we join mid-season?

Yes. Groups take swimmers year round as space allows, and dues are prorated from your start date.

What if we can only make some practices?

Attendance expectations rise with the group, but partial schedules work in the developmental groups. Talk to the coach before you register.

Where does parking and drop-off happen?

Park in Lot 18 or Garage 38. Lot 34 is the only permitted drop-off location, and drop-off is not allowed on the UNF Drive main road.

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes, through the WeRise Foundation. Ask any coach or email us, requests are handled privately.

What about adults?

Masters has no tryout. Come to a session, swim at your pace, and register with US Masters Swimming when you decide to stay.
